The Project Hoxton - Virtus Security

Virtus Security recently completed the full fire, security and data package at a brand-new student accommodation in the heart of Shoreditch. Consisting of 223 Apartments and communal entertainment area over 8 levels.

FIRE ALARM

A Kentec Taktis panel was utilised along with Hochiki protocol detection. The cause and effect for the site was unusually complex so great consideration was taken when selecting a capable CIE manufacturer.

DISABLED REFUGE

Virtus selected a Baldwin Boxall Omnicare system based on its reliability and ease of installation. A total of 21 remote units were installed as well as repeaters integrating with 4 disabled call alarms.

CCTV

Hikvision IP CCTV cameras have been installed on the project using a dedicated fibre network installed by ourselves, the client has full access to the IVMS software for reviewing of the CCTV footage.

INTRUDER

The intruder alarm has been designed and installed predominantly for the night security team to monitor all fire exits on site. A Honeywell Galaxy system was favoured by us, known for its reliability and user-friendly keypad.

DATA

A complete data infrastructure has been installed by Virtus, every apartment has a dedicated internet access point as well as site wide WIFI utilising our infrastructure, the system is installed to the relevant standards to provide a 25yr warranty with our chosen supplier excel networks.

Throughout the project we worked very closely with our Client ensuring the project was kept in line with the main contractor’s program of works. Inevitably various design changes were brought to our attention, which involved a quick turnaround from Virtus to enable additional equipment to be installed without hindrance to the original system design.

To ensure a comprehensive handover of all equipment, not only did Virtus perform the minimum requirements of a practical demonstration and documentation, we filmed all demonstrations a second time so that the users have full understanding.

The completion of this project further shows our competence is completing large scale projects for the student accommodation and multi tenanted property sector.
